about

It was through having a massage and experiencing how amazing, uplifted and free from tension it made her feel that led Piia to train as a massage therapist herself. She has been practising massage therapy since 1998, and trained through the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB). Throughout the years Piia has returned to the College for advanced workshops and has recently finished a Diploma 5  Remedial & Sports Massage course.

Her focus is on dealing with the person’s body and mind, where it is at that moment, to provide a treatment that is in tune with their specific needs at that time.

Piia love’s her work and the instant positive response clients give, that deeper breath, or slight shift and change in the muscle tissue, and the smile on their relaxed faces when they leave the treatment room. That inspires Piia to promote healing and positive wellbeing through massage. She continues to discover new techniques and believes in ongoing training in order to deliver high standard, person focused treatments. Her long experience as a massage therapist, and treating common musculoskeletal complaints, enhances her ability to listen to your body and assist it to heal itself.

Piia is a member of the FHT (the Federation for Holistic Therapists).

Why have a treatment

Massage treatments can help to reduce muscular tension, increase circulation, boost immunity, and clear the body from toxins in the muscle tissue, promoting healing generally. Massage can be a helpful way to maintain your feeling of calmness and improve the state of balance in the joints and muscle tissues, which is why Piia has many clients who have regular treatment, as well as those who come on a more ad-hoc basis.

What to expect

In your first treatment with Piia, she will take an initial consultation to tailor the treatment according to your needs. Generally massage oil or wax will be used and you will be lying on a massage couch. Drapes and bolsters will be provided for your comfort.

After treatment advice

At the end of the treatment, Piia will often give her clients self care advice. This may be in the form of stretches, and exercises. It is recommended to drink plenty of water after your treatment and allow yourself some time to rest. It is common to feel mild stiffness and soreness in the next 24-48 hours after treatment.
